Eight arrested for drink-driving in Jersey at weekend
Eight people were arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving in Jersey at the weekend.
The States of Jersey Police said they were concerned at that number.
They said they were also concerned that a number of those arrested over the weekend were involved in collisions.
Insp Alan Williamson said: "Drink-driving is a serious matter, the results of which can be catastrophic. If you drink and drive, you will be caught."
He said people should not drive if they are going to drink and that included the morning after.
Insp Williamson said the consequences of being caught included a driving ban, a criminal record, increased insurance costs, legal expenses and possible loss of livelihood.
He said while it was a busy weekend for traffic offences, the number of drink-drive related road collisions was down overall, from 58 last year to 39 so far this year.
