Decision due over La Longue Rue green lane use

A trial to stop a green lane being used as a cut-through by drivers in Jersey could be made permanent.

La Longue Rue in St Martin was used by thousands of drivers every week until it was made a no-through road.

The parish started the trial following complaints about cars speeding on the lane, which has a 15mph speed limit.

Ratepayers will be asked whether to keep the no-through road designation in place at a Parish Assembly on Wednesday evening.

They will also be asked if La Rue de Payn, which leads onto it, should be one way.

The green lane runs from the Catholic church, past the Berni Community Centre and on to La Grande Route de Faldouet.

However, the parish said it had received reports of cars regularly breaking the 15mph limit.
