Students on a book-keeping course at Jersey's Highlands college achieved the best grades in the British Isles.

Professor Ed Sallis says the course is crucial to Jersey's financial industry.

He told BBC News the course appeals to a range of people from those returning to work to people just starting out.

Mr Sallis said: "Provided you have a good mathematical aptitude and it is something that appeals to you then you can come straight in."

This was the fifth time Highlands College students achieved the best grades in the International Association of Bookkeepers Level 1 examination.
