Joan Corran: Woman hit by van died from 'head injuries'
A 66-year-old library assistant died from head injuries after she was hit by a van in the Isle of Man, an inquest has heard.
Joan Corran, who was born in Dublin but lived in Onchan, was pronounced dead at the scene in Royal Drive near to her home at about 10:00 BST on 18 October.
Police said a van driver is assisting with inquiries.
Coroner John Needham opened and adjourned the inquest for a date yet to be fixed at Douglas courthouse earlier.
Mrs Corran had been married to her husband Neil for 40 years, the inquest was told.
Mr Needham passed on his "sincere condolences" to her family, who did not attend the hearing.
