Irish yacht in Isle of Man lifeboat rescue

An Irish yacht called Cruachan has been rescued by the Manx lifeboat after breaking down 20 miles from the west coast of the Isle of Man.

The RNLI crew from Peel was called out at about 22:00 BST on Thursday.

A spokesman said the yacht, which had suffered "multiple gear failure", was eventually towed in to Peel harbour at about 01:15.

He added there were two people on board the craft which had set sail from Portaferry in Northern Ireland.
