Isle of Man road closure for 'significant' works

A major route in the Isle of Man will be closed for several weeks to allow for a "significant" programme of road improvements, the government says.

Resurfacing, drainage work and cat-eye replacement will take place on the A18 Mountain Road from 9 September.

The first phase, between 9 and 13 September will see a complete closure between the Bungalow and Ramsey.

The area between the Creg-ny-Baa and the Bungalow will be closed between 09:30 (BST) and 17:00 each day.

A government spokesman said:"Motorists and race fans may have observed that the surface at Ramsey Hairpin and the Creg-ny-Baa are deteriorating and require attention."

The remaining work will begin on 16 September and is expected to take about three weeks.

This will mean an off-peak Mountain Road closure between 09.30 BST and 16:30, every day except Sundays.
