Irish Guards widow voices pride

The widow of a Merseyside soldier killed in Afghanistan has spoken of her pride for her husband and how she has been overwhelmed by people's sympathy.

L/Sgt Mark Burgan, 28, was killed by a roadside bomb alongside Major Matthew Collins, 38, from Backwell in Somerset on 23 March.

The bodies of the men, who both served with 1st Battalion The Irish Guards, are due to be flown back to the UK on Wednesday.

Leanne Burgan, whose father also served with the regiment, wrote to her husband daily.

The men died just six days before their tour of duty was due to end.
