Sir Elton John is to perform in the Isle of Man for the first time, it has been announced.

He will appear on 16 June, in Nobles Park, Douglas, and will play solo with only his piano.

It is one of a handful of dates the star is due to perform in the UK next summer and the only performance without his band, promoters Marshall Arts said.

Sir Elton said: "I have never played in the Isle of Man before, so I'm looking forward to the concert on June."

He added: "Every year I play concerts all over the world, often in the most extraordinary and exotic places.

"I never tire of playing... in the summer (it) is always a special joy."

He will also perform in Cardiff, Glasgow, Shrewsbury, Northampton and Brighton.
