Health officials have warned there is a "highly infectious" outbreak of Gastroenteritis on the Isle of Man.

The virus, which is affecting mainly children, can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, fever and abdominal pain.

Anyone affected has been asked not to visit Nobles Hospital and to contact their doctor by telephone only.

A Public Health spokesman said: "The virus is highly infectious and good hygiene, especially hand washing, is essential to prevent it spreading."

People who contract the disease are advised to wait for 48 hours after their symptoms stop before returning to work or school.
