The Isle of Man meteorological office is predicting severe gales on the island later this week.
Winds could reach up to force nine on Thursday afternoon and could develop to storm force.
The high winds are expected to continue through the week but will ease by Saturday afternoon.
Forecaster from Ronaldsway airport, David Boultbee said: "We anticipate the strong winds and scattered showers will cause some disruption to travel."
A police spokesman said: "It is apparent that people are not taking notice of the prevailing weather conditions.
"I would ask that all drivers do their bit and take notice of what is happening with the weather - it is relatively simple - be slow and be careful."
