Conor Cummins is eager for TT 2011 return

A racer who nearly died in a high-speed crash in the Isle of Man TT last year has spoken of his determination to return to road racing.

Conor Cummins, 24, crashed on the final lap of the TT in 2010 but hopes to be fit enough to enter next year.

The Ramsey rider has been treated at the hyperbaric chamber, an oxygen therapy facility in the Isle of Man.

Cummins spent about two months in hospital after crashing near the Verandah in the Senior TT race.

He said: "If it means blood sweat and tears I don't mind, it's got to be done hasn't it?"

After the crash Cummins was treated for a back fracture, a broken arm, shoulder injuries, a bruised lung, a dislocated knee and extensive ligament damage.

He is hoping to build up his fitness levels to be ready for race testing in March 2011.
