A stranded dog has been rescued from the bottom of 300ft cliffs on the coast of Alderney.

Alderney's RNLI relief lifeboat was called to rescue the dog at Telegraph Bay after she strayed from a cliff path, tumbling to the beach below.

It had been walking with its owner, who was unable to reach the dog, Digger, due to the sheer cliff face.

The boat and crew were able to rescue the soggy pooch and reunite it with its relieved owner at Braye Harbour.

Lifeboat staff said that apart from sore paws, Digger did not need any veterinary treatment.
