Half of Guernsey's adults surveyed 'overweight or obese'
Half of adults in Guernsey surveyed by the Health and Social Services department are obese or overweight, a report has found.
The Lifestyle Survey for 2013 surveyed 2,500 households in Guernsey and Alderney.
A quarter of those surveyed were classed as "increasing risk" drinkers, 2% as "higher risk" drinkers, and 1% possibly alcohol dependent.
The report also found a third of people have "good levels of activity".
The survey showed a fifth of respondents ate the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables.
Dr Stephen Bridgman, medical officer of health, said the Healthy Lifestyle Survey had a good response rate and there were "some positive indications about the health and wellbeing of islanders".
He said: "This information will help us to target and tailor our health improvement work to assist those who need information and help the most."
