Alderney States election 2014: Twelve stand

Twelve people have come forward for the five vacant seats in the States of Alderney.

Every two years, half of the 10 States members are elected and the president, who has a deciding vote in the event of a tie, serves a four-year term.

There have also been 12 candidates at the previous two elections.

A total of 1,267 of the island's 1,900-strong population have registered to vote in the election being held on 22 November.

Polling will take place in the members' room at the Island Hall, Royal Connaught Square between 09:30-18:30 GMT.

The candidates are: Tony Barnes, Matt Birmingham, Colly Coleman, Caroline Ely, Tony Haywood, Geoff Le Prevost, Anthony Llewellyn, Lin Maurice, Graham McKinley, Norma Paris, Steve Roberts and Ian Tugby.
