Jewellery worth £23k taken in Guernsey smash and grab raid

Items worth about £23,000 were stolen in a smash and grab burglary in Guernsey.

The Martin and Martin jewellers revealed the total value of about 50 items stolen from its St Peter Port premises, at about 05:00 BST on Monday.

The majority of the items were white and yellow gold, diamond rings.

Police said a 22-year-old man arrested on Tuesday in connection with the burglary had been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Officers have warned islanders and jewellers to be on the lookout for items being offered for sale.
