Guernsey States carry out secret broadband speed tests

A secret pilot survey to monitor broadband speeds on the island is being run by the States of Guernsey, it has been revealed.

The scheme involving 20 homes was launched without the knowledge of internet service providers.

Deputy Heidi Soulsby, from the Commerce and Employment Department, said more homes could be included if the results proved useful.

She said the aim was to see if issues reported were part of wider problems.

Deputy Soulsby said this would allow the department to approach providers about fixing issues that affect a number of islanders.
