The whole community will benefit from the £12m sports facility at Guernsey's Les Beaucamps High School, according to the education minister.

Work on the £25m school building to house the school's 500 pupils was completed in 2012.

However, work on the sports facility, due to be completed by the end of last year, was delayed by bad weather.

Deputy Robert Sillars said the four lane swimming pool and sport halls would be available to the public.

The facilities will be available for community groups to hire from September.

As well as the 500 pupils at the secondary school, nearby primary schools will also make use of the facility.
