Guernsey campaigners in Walk for Weed protest

People campaigning to see cannabis legalised have taken part in a "Walk for Weed" in Guernsey.

Organisers of the event said the aim was to change the States of Guernsey's current laws.

The peaceful march through St Peter Port was monitored by Guernsey Police and the Border Agency.

A police spokesman said the event, which was attended by about 20 people, went off without incident and no arrests were made.

Cannabis is classified under the Misuse of Drugs Law 1974 as a Class B drug, making it a criminal offence to "possess, supply or import" it in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
