Guernsey police crackdown on illegal parking

Guernsey police have been out on the streets penalising car drivers who break parking laws.

A spokesman confirmed 61 fix penalty notices were given out as part of the crackdown.

It is illegal to park in a bay overnight and set your parking clock for the morning, but many flout that.

Traffic Warden Vanda Slann said: "Issuing parking tickets isn't a vendetta against the motorist or a money raising exercise."

Police warned motorists via Facebook, immediately prompting a debate among locals.

Many were confused by the law, believing the disc zone time limit starts at 8am and that clocks do not need to be set over night.

More than 100 tickets were issued in a sweep of the car parks last August.
