Three day Sark Folk Festival sells out within one hour

The fifth annual Sark Folk Festival sold out within one hour, after going on sale at 12:00 GMT on Saturday.

Jessica Nash, a member of the organising committee, said weekend tickets for all three days, priced at £65, had sold out after 17 minutes.

"We're really chuffed that people have faith in us to put on a really good festival," she said.

No performers have yet been confirmed for the festival, which runs between 4 and 6 July next year.

Miss Nash said the committee hoped to be able to confirm some names in the next few weeks.

Space limited

The festival will be held at the same site as in 2013, on the south west side of the island.

Last year the event was attended by more than 1,000 people.

Tickets sold out within three days last year but organisers have said they will not make more tickets available, as the island's transport and accommodation capacities would not be able to cope.

"We'd love to invite everyone to the festival but we have to have a limit," Miss Nash said.

She told BBC Guernsey online buyers had been restricted to 10 tickets per purchase.

Paul Armorgie, who runs Stocks Hotel, said: "We have been fully booked [for the nights of the festival] since July 2013 and we also have a waiting list which has now been capped and closed."
