Seven rescued as yacht sinks off Spain

Seven people have been rescued after their yacht sank off the Mediterranean coast of Spain.

The alarm was raised when the yacht Indigo of Herm, registered in the Channel Islands, started taking on water about 60 miles off the coast.

Falmouth Coastguard said a Spanish coastguard lifeboat and helicopter were launched about 14:30 BST.

He said three people were rescued from the sea and the rest from a life raft.

The spokesman said all were reported to be safe and were being flown to Girona, in the north east of Spain.
