Guernsey States services review agreed

A move to review and prioritise all of the services and projects undertaken by Guernsey's government has been approved in principle by the States.

The Policy Council had asked for £255,000 for the project, but States members wanted more details.

Proposals will now need to be brought back to the States before any money is spent on the government service plan.

The Policy Council brought the motion to ensure the island's "scarce resources" were put to their best use.

The plan could see the budgets of all departments reviewed and the prioritisation of the 400 projects currently being carried out by the States, which could lead to some being suspended or shelved.
