Guernsey Gas apology over boiler shut-downs
A high level of residue in a Guernsey Gas shipment of liquid petroleum gas has shut down some domestic boilers.
The company has apologised after 150 problems were reported, of which 20 affected domestic appliances.
A company spokesman said an October shipment of LPG contained high levels of residue known as "heavy ends".
He said there was no concern over safety and affected customers were having parts replaced free of charge to rectify the problem.
Robert Gardner, customer and network services director at Guernsey Gas, said steps were being taken to source alternative supplies, which would reduce the risk of further problems.
