Money woes help cause rise in Guernsey Relate counselling

Economic problems are one of the reasons behind more people seeking relationship counselling in Guernsey, a service has said.

Between January and November 2012, 422 people contacted Relate, compared with 370 during the same period in 2011.

Service manager Annette Stewart said people were "really feeling the pressure" of budget cuts.

She said Relate had seen a steady demand for services throughout 2012, unlike in previous years.

Relate in Guernsey started in 1949 and was originally called the Marriage Guidance Council.
