Moves to change Guernsey's 2012 budget rejected

Two motions to change the budget proposed for 2012 have been rejected by the States of Guernsey.

A move to cut savings targets for the Health and Social Services Department was lost by 29-18 votes.

A separate motion to increase property tax for financial businesses and reduce the rise for domestic buildings was heavily defeated by 36-11.

Deputies have yet to approve the proposed £361.8m budget for States departments and committees.
