Metal thefts from Guernsey builders on the increase

Builders in Guernsey have been warned after an increase in the number of thefts of copper and lead in the island.

Andy Goodall, Guernsey Police's crime reduction adviser, said owners of building sites and people doing renovations should take special care.

He said the items stolen included a 3ft by 2ft (90cm by 60cm) copper water cyclinder and a 100kg role of lead.

Mr Goodall advised islanders to securely store building materials.
