Channel Islands Lottery grants benefit 30 charities

More than 30 Guernsey charities have benefited from the proceeds of the 2010 Channel Islands Christmas Lottery.

A total of £231,000 will be shared between 36 island charities by the Association of Guernsey Charities.

Treasurer Malcolm Woodhams said he was delighted the 2010 lottery draw had raised more money than ever before.

The grants were up £60,000 from those given out in the island last year and the biggest grant went to the Guernsey Cheshire Home, which received £20,000.

Methodist Homes for the Aged received £18,690 to replace the call system at Maison L'Aumone.

Other grants include money for a new speaker system at Amherst Primary School and purchasing a tractor for the Lihou Charitable Trust.
