Female pedestrian killed in Dublin road accident

A woman has died and another has been seriously injured in a road accident in Dublin.

The two female pedestrians, both in their 40s, were seriously injured when they were struck by a car in Hartstown at about 02:40 GMT on Sunday.

Both were taken to hospital, where one of the women was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was charged on suspicion of drink driving. He was released and is due in court later this month.

The driver and the two other men in the car, all of whom were in their 20s, were unhurt.
