Letterkenny hospital grounds flood in heavy rain

The grounds of a hospital in County Donegal have been flooded, as heavy rain affected some parts of the county.

Firefighters have been using pumping equipment on Tuesday to divert water away from Letterkenny General Hospital.

The hospital only resumed full service in March after it was affected by serious flooding last July.

That flood affected 70% of services and destroyed 40% of the hospital building after a tributary of the River Swilly overflowed.

The estimated cost of the rebuilding work was 10m euros (£8.2m).

However, the total for re-equipping the facility and rebuilding sections of the hospital was estimated at 30m euros (£24.7m).
