Irish floods: Clean-up operation under way

A clean-up operation is continuing in Cork and other parts of the Republic of Ireland after heavy rain caused flooding to homes and businesses.

Met √Čireann warned that further heavy showers with some thundery downpours could lead to more local flooding.

ESB crews are continuing to restore power to thousands of households and businesses that were left without supply following the overnight storms.

Eircom said it was dealing with around 10,000 faults on its network.

In Cork, the river Lee burst its banks on Tuesday evening.

There was also flooding in other parts of county Cork and in the midlands.
