Man charged over County Cavan murder
A 29-year-old man has appeared at Dublin District Court charged with the murder of another man in the Republic of Ireland over the weekend.
Emmet Connolly from Rockcorry in County Monaghan was stabbed to death in a house in Cootehill, County Cavan, on Sunday.
Kevin Moran, from Lodge View in Cootehill, was remanded in custody until next Friday.
The court heard that Mr Moran made no reply when charged with murder.
His solicitor said Mr Moran was a single parent who had just returned to college.
There was no application for bail and Mr Moran was granted free legal aid to appear again at Cloverhill District Court next Friday.
The court heard that Mr Connolly was an archaeologist and had only recently returned from Western Australia after spending a year abroad.
