Briton Ferry murder: Victim named as Kevin Barry Mahoney

Police on Thomas Street

A man whose body was found in a Neath Port Talbot street has been named as Kevin Barry Mahoney, 46.

Police are questioning a 44-year-old man at Swansea central police station on suspicion of murder.

Officers were called to Thomas Street, Briton Ferry, on Wednesday morning after the body was found in a lane behind the street.

Mr Mahoney was formally identified on Wednesday. The cause of his death has not yet been established.

The 44-year-old man was later arrested and remains in police custody in Swansea central police station.

On Wednesday, the area was cordoned off and forensic examinations of the scene were taking place.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about Mr Mahoney, or who saw him in the days before his death, to get in touch.
