Two people have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash on the A477 in Carmarthenshire.

A transit van and a car collided on the by-pass between St Clears and Llanteg at about 08:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A woman has been airlifted to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales and a man to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

Two "walking wounded" patients were taken by ambulance to Glangwili General Hospital in Carmarthen.

The road has been closed in both directions and affected traffic between Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock is being diverted.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it had three emergency ambulances, an ambulance officer, a doctor and two Wales Air Ambulances at the scene.

Both the fire service and police were also in attendance.
