A former deputy mayor has been cleared of groping a 19-year-old woman during a council ceremony.

Ryan Thomas, 27, of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, denied sexually assaulting a woman during a town council mayor-making ceremony in 2014.

The case was dropped on the first day of his trial after he apologised for being "intoxicated" and admitted his actions "may have been inappropriate".

A judge at Swansea Crown Court ordered the jury to find him not guilty.
