A Welsh vicar took part in the wedding ceremony of opera singer Katherine Jenkins at the weekend.

The Neath mezzo-soprano married American film director Andrew Levitas at Hampton Court Palace on Saturday.

Canon Stephen Ryan from Jenkins' hometown parish church of St David's helped with the wedding blessing.

The vicar said it was a "great pleasure" to be at the celebration and sent best wishes on behalf of everyone in the church and parish.

Just family and close friends were invited to Saturday's ceremony in Richmond-upon-Thames, but Canon Ryan said it was important for the couple that their wedding was blessed by a priest from the singer's home parish.

The classical star first learnt to sing as a choirgirl at St David's Church in Neath and still goes there when she returns to Wales.

The couple got permission from Buckingham Palace to fly the Welsh dragon at their wedding venue.
