Dyfed-Powys Police rider thrown off avoiding car on A40

A police motorcyclist has been thrown from his machine while taking action to avoid colliding with a car.

Officers are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at the Bancyfelin junction near Carmarthen at 08:55 BST on Saturday.

Dyfed-Powys Police said a car crossed the central reservation of the westbound carriageway and turned right into the police rider's path.

He lost control and was thrown off as he avoided the car, which did not stop.

The car is described as light coloured and medium sized but there are no further details.

A force spokesperson said it was last seen heading in the general direction of Carmarthen.

No details have been released about the condition of the police rider.
