Teenage surfers swept out to sea at Llanrhystud, Ceredigion

Four teenagers had to be rescued after they were washed out to sea on surf boards after getting caught in a rip current off the Ceredigion coast.

Milford Haven Coastguard was alerted at 14:30 BST on Saturday after a family friend called for help.

The RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched to rescue the teenagers at Llanrhystud, south of Aberystwyth.

They were taken to Bronglais Hospital where they were checked over and released unharmed.

Ten minutes later, at 14:40 BST, the coastguard was called after four anglers got cut off by the tide on a bank opposite Dylan Thomas's Boathouse in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire.

They were helped ashore by the Ferryside independent rescue boat and checked over after becoming cold.

One of the anglers was taken to hospital but is believed to be fine.
