A man accused of killing his girlfriend whose body was found on Christmas Day has been remanded in custody.

David Thomas O'Sullivan, 28, of Maes yr Ysgol, Carmarthen, appeared at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The body of mother-of-three Charmaine MacMuiris, 37, was discovered at about 10:50 GMT at his home.

Mr O'Sullivan is accused of committing the murder between 23 and 25 December, and the court heard the couple had been dating for just over a fortnight.

Ms MacMuiris's family attended court and there were shouts from the public gallery as Mr O'Sullivan, wearing a dark jumper, was led into the dock by two security guards.

He only spoke to confirm his name, age and address and will appear at Swansea Crown Court on 8 January.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who may have information which could help them to contact police in Carmarthen.
