Woman killed by bus in Cardiff 'did not see light change'
A great-grandmother who did not spot a pedestrian crossing light had turned red was hit by a bus and killed, an inquest has heard.
Joan Davies, 83, was in Cardiff for a shopping trip when she stepped out onto Greyfriars Road on 17 May last year.
She did not look and was hit by the single-decker bus, the Cardiff inquest heard. She died shortly after from a cardiac arrest.
The coroner recorded a conclusion of death by road traffic collision.
A police investigation found no evidence to suggest the bus driver had done anything wrong and no charges were ever brought against him.
The family of widow Mrs Davies, of Newport, described her as an "immensely independent and energetic lady" who would be "missed but remembered".
