A lorry fire and a four-vehicle crash have caused "severe delays" on the A470 in south Wales.

The southbound carriageway is closed at Merthyr Tydfil after a lorry caught fire between the Rhydycar roundabout and Abercanaid roundabout on Tuesday.

The four-vehicle accident happened on the northbound carriageway between Rhydyfelin and Pontypridd, with three casualties.

Both incidents were reported just before 17:00 GMT.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said a crew from Whitchurch attended the crash and three people were treated by paramedics.
