More than nine miles of old gas pipes will be replaced as part of £2m improvement works in Cardiff.

Metal pipes will be replaced with long-lasting plastic ones in Rhiwbina during the scheme scheduled to last for the rest of this year and 2017.

Wales and West Utilities said the work would bring a safe and reliable gas supply to the area for years to come.

Programme controller Francis Kirk said disruption would be kept to a "minimum".
