Work to rebuild a century-old Cardiff road bridge over south Wales' main railway line has been completed following months of delays.

Windsor Road bridge, which connects Adamsdown with Splott, closed in January 2015 with two-mile diversions in place.

It was due to reopen in spring 2016 but high winds, and other unexpected circumstances, led to delays.

The new bridge is higher to allow for the future electrification of the line.

Work is soon due to start on Beresford Road bridge at the other end of Splott, which will close to road traffic from 23 July until spring 2017.
