Lamb rescued after falling into sinkhole at Rhymney

Firefighters have rescued a lamb which became stuck 23ft (7m) down a sinkhole in a farmer's field in Caerphilly county.

Crews were called to the field near Harvards Row, Rhymney, at 19:20 BST on Tuesday.

The operation was hampered by unstable ground, which had subsided, said South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The lamb was rescued using a reach pole and promptly "ran off with mum", according to a spokeswoman.
