Man, 51, seriously injured in Newport hit-and-run

A man has been seriously injured following a hit-and-run in Newport, police have said.

The 51-year-old was struck by a car as he crossed the road near the BP service station on Malpas Road on Friday.

Gwent Police said the driver of the car failed to stop and drove off, leaving the man in the carriageway.

Police said the man was in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
