Three cars crashed on one of Cardiff's main roads after two dogs ran on to the carriageway.

Traffic ground to a halt on the A4232 southbound after the accident between Culverhouse Cross and the B4267 at Leckwith at about 07:10 GMT on Friday.

One of the dogs was killed but South Wales Police officers managed to catch the other.

A woman involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and the traffic jams cleared by late morning.

Queues stretched back to the M4, with traffic queuing on the slip roads at junction 33 for Cardiff West.

The accident also caused congestion on the A4232 northbound and Cowbridge Road West in Ely.
