A sports centre which had to close after heavy rain caused the roof to collapse is set to reopen.

The building in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, shut on 6 February as severe flooding affected half of the centre.

It is due to partially reopen on Monday, with more services returning in the near future.

Aneurin Leisure Trust managing director Anthony Hughes said he was pleased that "considerable progress" had been made to repair the centre.

Mr Hughes said the outdoor pitches, gym, sports hall and pool would be reopened this week, with exact dates yet to be confirmed.

A temporary reception has been set up while repair work is carried out on the main entrance.

"As I am sure you will understand your safety is paramount to us so this will all be subject to final health and safety testing," added Mr Hughes.
