A driver has admitted causing the death of a 12-year-old schoolboy by dangerous driving.

Calvin Markall, 26, hit Hamid Ali Khan as he attempted to cross a junction in Riverside, Cardiff, in February last year.

Markall, from Rumney, pleaded guilty at Newport Crown Court on Thursday.

Hamid was a pupil at Fitzalan High School and an avid Cardiff City football fan, his family said.

The Year 7 pupil was struck by a white Audi S3 on Ninian Park Road.

Judge Tom Crowther QC remanded Markall in custody for sentencing next Wednesday.
