Alan Rogers, 73, remanded over neighbour's hammer murder

A 73-year-old man has appeared in court accused of murdering his neighbour at a sheltered housing complex in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Alan Rogers appeared at Cardiff Crown Court after allegedly killing one of his neighbours with a hammer at Fairoaks in Dinas Powys.

Retired Fred Hatch, 76, died at Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales after being found hurt last Wednesday.

Mr Rogers was remanded in custody ahead of another appearance in December.
