Llantwit Major surfboat team wins world title
A team of surfboat rowers has won a senior world title at the international surf rescue championships.
Five volunteer lifeguards from Llantwit Major Surf Lifesaving Club beat challengers from five countries to take the Rescue 2014 Masters Surfboat 140 Plus title in Montpellier, France.
Surfboats have a crew of four rowers and a "sweep" to steer the boat.
Team member John Parsons said the team hoped their success would help fuel interest in the sport in Wales.
The competition involves steering the boat out over the surf and then surfing the boat back in.
