Police appeal over death of Cardiff pedestrian, aged 85

Police in Cardiff are appealing for witnesses after an elderly pedestrian died following a collision with a recovery vehicle.

John Roberts, 85, was seriously injured in the incident on Mill Road, Ely, at around 12:35 GMT on Saturday.

South Wales Police said Mr Roberts, who lived locally, was taken to the the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he died early on Sunday.

Police said a yellow Iveco recovery vehicle was involved in the incident.

The road was closed for around five hours while the scene was examined.
